The PerFair study aims to investigate the development of the perception of inequality and fairness among students and to analyze the consequences of this perception on educational and political attitudes and behavior. Questions such as "How do students perceive inequality in society and the education system?" or "Does this perception influence their interest in politics and their attitude towards democracy?" are examined and investigated from different perspectives by an interdisciplinary project team at the University of Konstanz.
PerFair is a longitudinal study conducted for the first time in the 2022/2023 academic year and assessed students in the seventh grade from approximately 200 classes. Schools from the federal states of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein participated. The second survey will take place with the same classes—when the originally assessed students will be in the ninth grade—in the 2024/2025 academic year. In addition to the students, their parents, class teachers, and school principals will also be surveyed.
