IEA IRC Pre-conference Roundup

Today we conclude our on-site workshops that have taken place in Dubai over the past two days. These sessions revolved around specialized topics related to large-scale assessment in advance of the three-day IEA International Research Conference.

We saw a wonderful attendance in the Arabic version of our Statistical Analysis of IEA Data Made Easy: Using the IEA IDB Analyzer workshop, delivered by Yasin Afana who has more than two decades in the field of educational measurement and quantitative research, and about 16 years with IEA.

Due to the growing application of the use of R among the research and academic community, a workshop was also delivered on Analyzing IEA data with R to discuss and exchange ideas, as well as offer solutions to basic and difficult programming questions. This was a very energetic hands-on workshop delivered by Umut Atasever and Diego Cortes, who both work at the IEA Sampling Unit with major responsibilities in ICCS and TIMSS.

In parallel, there was a practical workshop delivered on the topic of Methods for Causal Inference with Data from International Assessments. This session saw excellent engagement from the audience and was a mixture of lectures and hands-on training, to ensure participants gain both sound knowledge and practical expertise. Rolf Strietholt, the Co-Head of the IEA Research and Analysis Unit, and Andrés Strello, a researcher at the IEA Research and Analysis Unit, led this workshop.
