FIPS+

The FIPS+ Study was initiated to evaluate a tablet-based instrument for measuring learning progress from school entry (grade 1) to the end of primary school (grade 4). The application is designed for teachers to gain a differentiated insight into the children’s individual abilities, and to support the teachers in assessing the children’s abilities and individual development. It covers vocabulary, phonetic awareness, reading, and mathematics.

To obtain a comprehensive picture of the participating children, their parents and their class, German, and Mathematics teachers are asked to answer background questionnaires.

The FIPS+ Study runs from October 2018 until autumn 2023. Two hundred primary schools in Baden-Württemberg that have nominated children for a Hector Children’s Academy are participating with one, first grade class each. The initial data collection in grade 1 takes place in individual sessions with tablets, the following ones will be done in group sessions.
