New Call for Proposals Announced: IEA Research for Education Series

The call’s aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the context of reading literacy and learning internationally using data from IEA’s PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study).

This call is open to those who work with PIRLS and its data, and we welcome proposals that address the topic of international reading literacy from different theoretical, curricular, and cultural perspectives.

Successful applicants will receive funding of up to 25,000 euros to write a new report published by Springer within the IEA Research for Education Series.

Potential topics that could be explored in the report may include, but are not limited to:

  • How are teaching practices and school environments associated with reading literacy across countries?
  • What role does technology play in reading literacy development in different education systems?
  • How do socioeconomic factors and parental involvement predict reading literacy achievement?
  • What policy interventions have been associated with improved reading literacy in various educational contexts?

Please submit your proposal to secretariat@iea.nl before the deadline, Friday, 1 September 2023.
