IEA and Iraq Sign Memorandum of Understanding

IEA is pleased to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Iraq connected to the country’s participation in the IEA Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2023. The signing of the MOU took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Den Haag, and was attended by the Iraqi Ambassador, Iraqi delegates, and IEA Directors.

The MOU enables the establishment of a framework under which the parties can collaboratively explore areas of mutual interest, and advance the shared goal of enhancing the analysis and dissemination of education data to various stakeholders. This cycle of TIMSS marks the first time that the Republic of Iraq will participate in an IEA study, and the new MOU will enable the Republic of Iraq’s participation in the TIMSS study management, sampling and instrumentation, as well as data entry and analysis, to help improve education in the Republic of Iraq. IEA is delighted that the Republic of Iraq is joining our IEA research community, and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration.
