-

IERI (International Education Research Institute) is happy to host the IERI Autumn Academy, a three-day event in Hamburg focused on conducting secondary analysis using international large-scale assessment databases.

The Academy is designed for researchers and practitioners who wish to strengthen their analytical skills and gain hands-on experience with the most recently released datasets from major international studies, including IEA (TIMSS, PIRLS, ICCS, ICILS) and OECD (PISA).

The goals of this Academy are to:

  • Familiarize participants with the statistical complexities involved in working with and analyzing international large-scale assessment databases.
  • Familiarize participants with the data structure of TIMSS, PIRLS, ICCS, ICILS and PISA.
  • Familiarize participants with software currently available to take into account statistical and data complexities of these databases.
  • Prepare users to take into account the statistical complexities and complex data structure when using the databases with commercially available software.

On the last day of the Academy, participants will be invited to present a research project based on one of the international large-scale assessment databases, including preliminary results obtained during the Academy.

Participation is limited to 25 participants, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

An early bird fee of EUR 550 is available for those who register on or before 3 August 2026.
