9th International Research Conference

Researching Education: Trends and Changes

16-18 November 2021, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The 9th IEA International Research Conference (IRC), will take place on 16-18 November 2021 at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and will be preceded by workshops on secondary data analysis on 14-15 November 2021.

We understand that for many, it remains uncertain whether travel will be possible this year and as such, we will be incorporating a hybrid mode into this year’s IRC. We hope that this will allow for some much-needed flexibility during this continued time of uncertainty.

The IEA IRC 2021, will provide an international forum for all those working with IEA study data to present their findings and exchange views on critical educational research issues in a comparative and global context.

Registration is now open

To register, please go to the registration system. If new to the system, delegates are prompted to submit an email address and choose a password. Once in the system, all delegates can register.

Virtual attendees can expect to watch conference sessions on-demand, discuss opportunities and challenges with the keynote speakers, and set up 1:1 meetings with other virtual attendees via the online conference platform. On-site attendees can expect three full conference days of sessions and networking opportunities.

Pre-conference Workshop

IEA offers two-day on-site workshops on specialized topics related to large-scale assessment in advance of the three-day conference. The workshops are offered in parallel from 14-15 November 2021 at the conference venue.

Topics will be based on the wide array of available IEA large-scale assessment data, including process data from the most recent IEA studies. Attendees will be introduced to tools (specifically R-software) and various analysis methods including multilevel modeling and causal inference from observational data.

The workshop participation fee is 200 euros. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that in-person participation is required to attend the on-site workshops.

Message from the organizing committee

Thank you for your continued interest in participating in the IEA International Research Conference. The IEA IRC 2021 Organizing Committee together with the host, the Ministry of Education UAE, are fully committed to organizing an engaging conference in November 2021.

In recognition of the impact of COVID-19, and as we remain committed to prioritizing the health and safety of IRC participants, we have decided that a hybrid mode will be made available. Next to our on-site sessions, we will be offering remote presentation options within a predefined time window. The remote sessions will be scheduled according to Gulf Standard Time (GST).

The program for integrating the two forms at the conference is still being discussed and any new updates will be announced as soon as possible.

The IEA IRC 2021 Organizing Committee is ready to assist you with any questions or concerns. Please contact us by e-mail at irc@iea.nl or phone + 31 20 624 3625.

We look forward to welcoming you to Dubai either in person or remotely.
