The World Education Research Association (WERA), in collaboration with IEA and the University of Hamburg, has opened the call for the WERA Visiting Researcher Award 2026. The award offers researchers in education the opportunity to spend six to eight weeks in Hamburg in 2026, hosted jointly by IEA Hamburg and the University of Hamburg.
Awardees will develop their own research project while receiving expert support and direct access to data from international large-scale assessments, including IEA studies, and the University of Hamburg’s MEZ Study on multilingual development. The grant includes €4,000 to cover travel and subsistence costs.
The call is open to current WERA members at all career stages who hold at least a master’s degree. Researchers from the Global South are particularly encouraged to apply. The application deadline is 20 March 2026.
