IEA statement on the situation in Ukraine

Our thoughts and profound solidarity are with all those, especially the students, teachers, academics, our colleagues, and their families, affected by the terrible acts of violence against Ukraine. The lives of millions of people are at stake and IEA is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of all involved, especially of children and education personnel, as well as the overall effects of the destruction of educational institutions to the continuity of teaching and learning.

As a non-governmental, independent research organization, we stand for the rights of children and their access to quality education. IEA is committed to diversity and the free expression of ideas in pursuit of a common goal of researching education to improve learning. We believe that this mission can only be achieved in peaceful surroundings. Made up of colleagues and members from around the world, IEA’s emphasis has always been on creating and maintaining an inclusive and respectful community for everyone and we wish to work toward practical ways to assist the continuation of learning and education recovery in affected areas.
