The second report in the TIMSS 2023 Insights series is now available from the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center.
This report introduces a new framework, school climate health, which centers on relationships among school participants, the resulting environment, and satisfaction with the schooling experience. It also describes how response patterns derived from TIMSS 2023 questionnaire data can be used to create meaningful profiles of school environments across education systems.
These profiles reveal the importance of including different stakeholders when evaluating school environments, as stakeholder perceptions do not always align. The results also highlight the complexity of relationships observed between mathematics and science achievement and school environment.
Additionally, the report enables a deeper analysis of education systems and expands upon explorations of well-being in other IEA studies, including the PIRLS 2021 Insights report.
The full report is available on the web and as a PDF at timss2023.org/insights.
About the TIMSS Insights series
The TIMSS Insights series explores specific educational research topics using TIMSS data. Publications in this series use both mathematics and science achievement and contextual data to take a closer look at particular areas of research interest. The Insights reports explore complex relationships among different variables in TIMSS, extending beyond what is presented in the International Results in Mathematics and Science.
