Released annually at IEA’s General Assembly, the IEA Insider provides a comprehensive look at IEA’s work over the past year and the developments shaping its future. It brings together highlights from across IEA, including updates on studies, national and international projects, services, events, publications, organizational developments, and more.
Exploring new ground
This year’s IEA Insider explores the new ground IEA is steadily navigating. It reflects on the progress and milestones of recent years while looking ahead to new opportunities and developments shaping the future of international education research. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a recurring theme throughout this year’s IEA Insider. The rapid development of AI is already influencing many aspects of IEA’s work, from a significant increase in research submissions (see page 52), to changes in IEA study frameworks (see page 19), and new approaches to internal processes (see pages 34 and 36).
Looking ahead to major milestones
The IEA Insider also looks ahead to a number of exciting events and upcoming releases. These include the IRC 2027 in Thailand on 23–25 June 2027 (see page 48); the PIRLS 2026 release on 7 December 2027 (see page 8); and the upcoming enrolment for the TIMSS and PIRLS 2031 studies (see page 14).
