Thank you to the IEA Committees

The international committees of IEA bring together long-standing member representatives and experts in international educational assessment who are critical to IEA’s work. We would like to recognize their outstanding contributions this year.

PEC: Publications and Editorial Committee
Special recognition goes to the PEC Chair, Seamus Hegarty and members who provide their valuable time and expertise to provide critical, independent review of IEA publications. Their valuable insights and critical guidance continue to elevate all publications across IEA studies and series.

In 2024 alone PEC have reviewed an outstanding 17 publications across IEA’s ICCS, ICILS, and TIMSS International Reports, PIRLS Assessment Frameworks and Insights, IEA Research for Education, IEA Research for Educators, IEA Compass: Briefs in Education, and Teacher Snippets.

TEG: Technical Executive Group
Year-on-year, TEG works closely with international study directors and officers to consult on all technical aspects of IEA’s study implementation. A special thanks to all members of TEG who consider and review the rigorous design and statistical analysis, expertly constructed items, and sampling that make IEA’s international large-scale assessments such as TIMSS, PIRLS, ICCS, and ICILS.

IEA would also like to extend a warm welcome to the newest members of TEG; Dr. Leslie Rutkowski, Dr. Sabine Meinck, and Dr. Irwin Kirsch.

IEA SC: Standing Committee
The SC serves as the IEA decision-making authority, dedicating their time to implementing resolutions and initiatives from the General Assembly. A warm thank you is extended to all SC members for their commitment to the running of IEA. Welcome to Dr. Abdalla Ababneh, Ms. Mary Coleman, and Ms. Carmen Tovar Sánchez who were elected to the SC at the 65th IEA General Assembly meeting in Tbilisi.

A special mention to Dr. Thierry Rocher, who after six years of serving as IEA Chair has stepped down from his role. Dr. Rocher steered the organization through a time of growth, built IEA’s network and reputation across the globe, and was instrumental to the inception of IEA’s Research and Development Fund. IEA is delighted to say that Dr. Christian Christrup Kjeldsen was elected to the position of IEA Chair in September at the 65th IEA General Assembly meeting.
