IEA was pleased to host a virtual colloquium focusing on questions, such as: How do we currently measure socioeconomic status (SES) in large-scale assessments? What issues still exist, when measuring SES? And what could be possible solutions?
Participants included Victoria Rolfe and some colleagues from the University of Gothenburg, and members of IEA's Research and Analysis unit.
Falk Brese: “Measurement of SES in IEA studies”
Ann-Kristin Koop: “Comparability issue: Why ICILS’ national SES index should not be used for comparisons across countries”
Victoria Rolfe (key presentation): “Creating a bespoke measurement of SES using PISA”
