The 11th IEA IRC has officially begun! Following a wonderful welcome reception hosted by INVALSI and the Department of Humanities of Roma Tre University.
IEA Chair, Dr. Christian Christrup Kjeldsen moderated the opening ceremony, which marked the beginning of an exciting first day filled with lively discussions. Rector of Roma Tre University Dr. Massimiliano Forucci delivered warm words of welcome, followed by IEA Executive Director Dr. Dirk Hastedt, IEA General Assembly Representative Dr. Roberto Ricci, Professor of Educational Research at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart Renata Maria Viganò, and Researcher at Roma Tre University Prof. Cinzia Angelini, setting the tone for the rest of the week in Rome.
Keynote speaker, Prof. Henry Braun from Boston College provided insights into approaches to comparing cognitive growth within achievement scores using data from TIMSS.
Following the keynote, highlights from the day included a panel discussion that provided an in-depth look at the updated IEA’s Technical Standards for International Large-scale Assessments, discussing the importance and application of ensuring data quality and comparability across authors, and a second panel featuring IEA’s latest publications on sustainability in education. A session dedicated to the IEA Research and Development outcomes highlighted the impacts and importance that four awardees have made in the field of education research.
We look forward to exploring more in the field of sustainability for education over the next two days!
