August 2026: School Principals as Change Agents in an Era of AI-Driven Transformation: Insights from ICILS 2023

This Compass Brief presents findings from the 2023 cycle of ICILS, the first international study to capture school principals’ perspectives on the emergence of generative AI in schools. Data from more than 1,100 principals in 11 countries, collected in late 2023 and early 2024, provide a unique snapshot of leadership responses at an early stage of AI adoption.
