The 65th General Assembly Meeting successfully wrapped up following three days of insightful and collaborative sessions.
Hosted by NCER (the National Center for Educational Research), the 65th annual meeting of the General Assembly (GA) took place in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 30 September−03 October 2024.
The IEA GA meets annually to review IEA projects and studies and to discuss critical topics that impact ILSAs in education, serving as a platform for dialogue and an exchange of experiences on disseminating IEA study results.
This year we had the honour of hearing from Nathan Burroughs, from the American Institutes for Research (AIR), who presented on the upcoming volume in the Research for Education Series: Socioeconomic Segregation and Educational Inequality: Evidence from International Assessments. Another highlight was hearing from IEA Research Award winner Stefan Johansson, University of Gothenburg, who discussed his research on prevalence and variation in school bullying using data from TIMSS 2015.
We are grateful to NCER for hosting us in the beautiful city of Tbilisi, and for supporting the organization of the assembly as well providing such a rich social program.
Thank you to all GA members and guests for their active participation and plethora of ideas. IEA looks forward to welcoming you to the next GA meeting in Madrid, Spain, in 2025!
