Apply For The IEA Research Awards 2026

The IEA Research Awards were established in commemoration of the significant contributions that Bruce H. Choppin and Richard M. Wolf made to IEA.

The Choppin Award recognizes outstanding master's theses or doctoral dissertations that employ empirical research methods and use IEA data.

The Wolf Award recognizes the author or authors of a paper published in a refereed journal, monograph, or book that includes data analysis from one or more IEA studies.

Winners of each award receive a certificate and a prize of €1,000. Recipients may be asked to present their research at the next IEA General Assembly meeting taking place in October 2026 in Warsaw, Poland.

Applications are self-nominated and must be submitted via email to secretariat@iea.nl. The application deadline is 31 March 2026. Please note that in a rule change from previous years, authors may only appear on one submission for the awards.

Applicants receive feedback within six months of the closing date. Please see our research awards page for more information. Details of last year's award winners can also be found here

We look forward to receiving your applications!
