Leonardo da Vinci intercontinental airport, located in Fiumicino, is the major airport in Italy and one of the busiest airports in Europe by passenger traffic. It provides travellers with the most modern services and facilities. The center of Rome can be easily reached from the airport by bus, train or taxi.

Taxi to and from the airport
Taxi service is available at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 Arrival areas. Fixed fares (each way) for some destinations, including all supplements, are as follows: Rome city center (within the Aurelian Walls): € 50,00; Ciampino airport: € 52,00; Tiburtina and Termini Station: € 55,00.

Authorized Taxi vehicles are white with a “TAXI” sign on the roof. The symbol of the Municipality of reference is fixed to the front doors and the license number is on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle.
Numerous bus lines connect all areas of the city, including the area of the Conference. The underground (“Metro”) has three lines, Linea “A” (red), Linea “B” (blue) and Linea “C” (green). A and B lines intersect at Termini so you have to pass through Termini when you need to switch lines.
Standard tickets (BIT - Biglietto Integrato a Tempo) are valid for 100 minutes of travel and can be used for one underground journey and one bus travel. They can be purchased at tobacco shops (“Tabacchi”), bars, newsstands and machines in stations. The bus driver does not sell tickets.
Daily and weekly tickets are also available. You can pay with a credit card in all Metro Stations:

- Ticket valid for one day (ROMA 24h): €7,00
- Ticket valid for one two days (ROMA 48h): €12,50
- Ticket valid for three days (ROMA 72h): €18,00

The streets of the historic center of Rome – the famous Spanish Steps, Via Condotti, Via Frattina, Via della Croce, Via Borgognona and Via Veneto – boast the workshops of Italy’s foremost and world renowned fashion creators along with glamorous shops, all bearing the unmistakable mark “Made in Italy”. Via Margutta and Via del Babbuino abound with privately owned artists’ studios and restoration workshops. Galleries can be found almost everywhere along the side streets, such as Via dei Coronari, one of the most picturesque streets in Roma, which also hosts numerous antique dealers. Close to the conference venue is Viale Marconi, a lively street filled with a variety of shops. Shops are usually open from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 19:30. However, several shops in the center are open from 10:00 to 19:00. Most shops are closed on Sunday and Monday morning.
